Assistant Who Poisoned Gaby Spanic Sentenced

Maria Celeste Fernandez, the former assistant to Gaby Spanic got her sentence for supposedly trying to poison the actress and her family.

She will stay behind bars for eight years.

Maria Celeste and her father plan on appealing the sentence because she claims she is innocent and they claim there are many inconsistencies in the investigation

Kate Del Castillo Signs on to do K-11 Movie

We’ve been very curious as to what Kate Del Castillo was going to do after La Reina Del Sur.

The success of that novela catapulted her fame and career to new heights and she mentioned that she was going to take her time choosing her next project…but she didn’t wait that long!

Kate has signed in to star in the movie K-11, a drama starring Goran Visnjic. Yeah, we never heard of him either.

Anyway, we wanted something a little more buzz-worthy than this but Kate is a smart woman and actress and surely she has her reasons for taking this on.

Gabriela Spanic's Assistant Is Innocent, Still In Jail

To your left you have a recent picture of Gabriela Spanic shoving a sugary confection down her throat. She's somewhere in a Televisa studio mid-break from filming a novela. One could say she looks to be worry-free, right? Like... days gone by!

But, not too long ago, Gabriela Spanic made a big 'ol escandalo over her ex-assistant's supposed, alleged, cold-hearted assassination plot. Well, the dust has settled and it turns out the real killer was and has always been Gabriela Spanic's diet, not Maria Celeste Fernandez, who, for some really fucked up reason, is still in jail.

How does Gaby sleep at night knowing she consciously jailed an innocent person? We don't really know. What we do know is that this bitch is merciless and hard-to-the-motherfucking-core.

Thankfully Maria may leave jail soon, since nothing has been proven against her and, well, people are no longer paying attention to this zafarancho.

Now, unless Gabriela Spanic drops dead in the next few days, this is one messed-up story were the villain, to use vernacular wordplay, se sale con la suya!

Cañaveral De Pasiones Will be Remade

Ok, enough is enough!!

Isn’t anyone in novela world original anymore??

Production will soon start on the remake of Cañaveral De Pasiones.

Rumor has it that Sebastian Zurita will take the lead role, which is actually a very neat casting choice.

You see, he acted in the original novela as the young version of the protagonist, so now he is basically reprising the role.

Still, not a good enough reason to continue with these redo novelas.

Good and Bad News for Telemundo Ratings

La Reina del Sur, with the fantastic Kate Del Castillo, was the highest-rated program in Telemundo’s 19-year history, reeling in 4.2 million viewers overall. Good news.

La Casa De Al Lado, which replaced La Reina and boasts a stellar cast including Catherine Siachoque, averaged more than 2 million total viewers making it one of the highest premieres in the network’s history. Good news.

On the contrary, the Jencarlos Canela novela, Mi Corazon Insiste, kicked off with dismal ratings and the numbers continue to drop.

That novela premiered with a 3.9 ratings score…compare that with competitor Univision’s Teresa numbers at 18.9. Ouch! Bad news.

The network certainly was on the upswing in the second quarter of 2011 and hopefully they can keep it up now that La Reina Del Sur is over.

Ana Brenda Contreras may have played the best friend in Teresa, but now she is getting her own starring role!

The actress has been chosen as the lead for the new novela La Mujer Que No Podía Amar.

She obviously impressed producer ‘El Güero’ Castro who was behind Teresa and will head this new movie.

Alicia Machado Runs Risk of Being Fired From Novela

Alicia Machado is apparently not getting along with anyone on the set of the novela Una Familia Con Suerte.

There’s talks about fights with other actresses, her overall snobby attitude, and the habit of showing up late on set and to shoot.

There have been so many complaints that there are rumors that they may get rid of Alicia!!

Salvador Zerboni, who played the bad mama’s boy on La Reina Del Sur, has signed on to star in a new Colombian novela titled La Mariposa.

It has to do with drugs and money laundering, which is not a far cry from LRDS…but, hey, he was perfect as El Ratas and sometimes you just have to stick with what you do best!

Sara Maldonado & Arap Bethke in New Novela

This new novela has its protagonists.

Arap Bethke and Sara Maldonado are taking the lead roles in the El Octavo Mandamiento.

Could be an interesting pairing.

We just hope that Sara has her things back in order…let’s not forget that she was booted from Aurora and she played Aurora!!!

The novela premieres on August 8th.
