Long hair

Since I found Blaze hairdressers in Leamington late last year, I have been consciously growing my hair to a long length whilst keeping it healthy with a trim every six weeks (as well as a mysterious colour treatment known only as "laminates"!). It has probably never looked better but I'm becoming rather clingy with my long locks now. The thought of cutting more than an inch off at once makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. It must take a lot of guts to go for the chop after you've been used to having long hair.

For anyone thinking of growing their hair long, you must find a stylist that you trust. They will be perfectly honest about the length that will suit you and give you the best possible trim to ensure it is healthy, whilst it grows steadily. This is important because, trust me, growing longer and longer hair becomes rather addictive.

Socially, long hair is associated with femininity and indeed, in the case of extra-marital affairs, the "other woman" often has longer hair than the wife, regardless of their individual attractiveness. Why do women compliment each other upon a haircut, particularly a shorter one? Because shorter hair means less competition for male affections.

Is this why, once we begin to grow our hair, we find it so terribly hard to stop?

I keep looking yearningly at stills of Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction, in the hope that I will one day be brave enough to try the hairstyle myself. However, given that black doesn't suit my skintone and a blunt fringe and short length do nothing for me, I think I'll stick with long, healthy locks.
