Legendary talk show host and personality Cristina Saralegui, who spent 21 years at Univision before leaving the air in November 2010, is returning to television, but this time on rival Telemundo. Caidas del Cielo a latest telenovela by Telemundo

Saralegui will develop, host and executive-produce a weekend variety show set to launch near the end of 2011, Telemundo officials said Tuesday.

Often dubbed "the Spanish-language Oprah," Saralegui was a major presence on Univision. During her last show, though, she made it clear she wasn't retiring.

Joining Telemundo is the latest in several steps toward return that Saralegui has made since her contract with Univision expired. She also recently inked a pact to launch a channel with SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Telemundo officials revealed the hire as part of their 2011-12 programming lineup announcement, which also includes four new telenovelas and a couple of specials.

Caidas del Cielo (Fallen from Heaven) is a Spanish-language telenovela to be produced by United States-based television network Telemundo Studios, Miami.

Telemundo will air the serial from Monday to Friday over about 26 weeks during the 2011-2012 season. As with most of its other telenovelas, the network broadcasts English subtitles as closed captions on CC3.
